Our crews were called to Brean beach at 1.37pm by HM Coastguard to reports of a ‘struggling kayaker’ in the mud.
Both BARB’s hovercrafts were swiftly launched from Burnham beach and made quick progress along the sands to Brean.
As we were approaching the scene, we received the positive news from Burnham Coastguards that the kayaker had managed to safely reach the beach without further assistance required and we were stood down.
This was a quick and effective multi-agency response to a potentially time-critical incident.
