#09 – PERSON IN MUD – 2022/06/12

Our volunteers were called out by HM Coastguard at 3.42pm this afternoon to reports of a person stuck in knee-deep mud on Burnham beach near the Pavilion.
As the person was fully stuck in a large area of mud and very soft sand with a rapidly incoming tide nearby, Burnham Coastguards also decided to call in additional help from Weston Coastguard and the fire service.
BARB’s hovercraft flew two of the fire crew out to the casualty. The man was freed from the mud and then flown by hovercraft up the beach to safety.
Given the state of the tide, a quick rescue was needed and this was a good multi-agency incident with team working for a positive outcome.
