Our volunteer crewmembers were called out at 2.55pm today to assist Coastguards in the rescue of a dog walker who was reported to be stuck in soft sand and mud on Burnham beach.
BARB’s Spirit Of Lelaina 2 hovercraft was quickly launched from Burnham’s main beach and flew out to the scene, north of Burnham Lighthouse, where a lady was stuck.
Our hovercraft offered safety cover incase the situation developed whilst Burnham Coastguard Mud Technicians successfully freed the lady, accompanied by her loyal dog, Lilly. She was helped back to the safety of the hard sand where an ambulance crew was on hand to check her over.
This was a very successful incident with multiple agencies involved, resulting in a positive outcome.
