11 Aug #24 – LADY STUCK IN MUD – 10/08/2021
BARB CALL-OUT #24: August 10.
BARB’s volunteers were called out at 1.58pm to Brean beach by Coastguards where the beachwarden had reported a lady stuck in knee-deep mud. She had attempted to help her daughter reach their dog after it had got stuck and been freed.
Both of BARB’s hovercraft were launched from Burnham beach and flown to the beach next to Brean Down. Two members of the Burnham Coastguard mud rescue team boarded the craft and were flown out to the lady where she was carefully moved onto the hovercraft before being flown up the beach to safety, met by her relieved family. The craft returned back down to the mud to also take the two Coastguard members onboard and bring them back to the beach.
This was a great outcome to the incident with close working alongside our friends at Burnham Coastguard.
