#43 – PERSON IN MUD – 15/09/2019

Our crews were called out by HM Coastguard to Brean beach amid concerns for the welfare of a man seen wading across the mudflats a long distance from the beach, with a fast-incoming tide nearby.
Burnham Coastguards were also called to the scene and our rescue hovercraft was launched from the beach at Burnham.
As we were arriving on scene, we received a positive update from the Coastguards that the man had managed to reach the hard sand and was no longer in difficulty. Our team was stood down.
The first informant, who was on Brean Down, did the right thing in calling 999 and asking for the Coastguard as soon as they had concerns, particularly given that the incoming tide meant that time was critical on this occasion.
