Our crews were called out by HM Coastguard at 1.29pm to Uphill beach following a report from a walker of a suspicious object seen in the mud, possibly a person.
As our crew were en route to Uphill we received a further update from Coastguards that the object was no longer deemed to be suspicious and we were stood down.
The incident was a false alarm with good intent — and the first informant did the right thing in reporting the sighting to Coastguards.
BARB’s volunteers are on call 24 hours a day with two inshore rescue boats and two hovercraft available to respond to incidents alongside Coastguards
