BARB Search & Rescue – which was formed in 1992 as Burnham Area Rescue Boat – has a great team of dedicated of local volunteers who operate our hovercraft and inshore rescue boats. We have saved hundreds of lives in Somerset and are on call 24-hours a day. We rely on your donations to keep our independent charity running.
Our rescue hovercrafts are on-call 24/7 to attend a wide variety of incidents along the Somerset coastline.
Our team works closely with Police, HM Coastguard and other agencies to help with missing people searches.
Our trained water rescue volunteers are on-call 24/7 to help with flooding incidents across the region.
The crew meet each week at their seafront-based station to train and ensure their life-saving equipment is maintained to a high standard.
None of the crew or anyone connected with BARB, the charity that runs the hovercraft, is paid for the work they do – so every penny that is raised for the organisation gets directed into saving lives.
